South Africa Itinerary





  


Day 1


British Airways flight departs London Heathrow at 19:20 arriving into Cape Town Airport at 08:50 local time, the following morning. Flying economy.

Day 2


Upon arrival you will be met for the handover of your documents and vouchers before your transfer to Camps Bay Retreat.

Stay 5 nights in a luxury room within the Deck House that provides you with a balcony where you can enjoy sea views. Breakfast is included.

Day 3


Today, take part in a city tour of Cape Town, highlights of this tour include Camps bay, Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak (subject to road being open) the Cape of Good Hope Reserve, Simonstown, Muizenberg, one wine tasting of South African wines at a local wine estate, and the university town of Stellenbosch.



Day 4


This morning your Group B Toyota Yaris (sedan version) or similar model will be delivered to the Camps Bay Retreat. After receiving your car take a full days drive out and re visit some of the places that you saw the day before but on a more leisurely basis.

Day 5


Check to see if Table Mountain is clear, if it is, be sure to take the cable car up and see the amazing aerial of Cape Town.



Day 6


Today visit Green Market Square an open air cobble stoned market, which sells African Carved masks to high street fashion, you can relax in the 6 hectare gardens originally Van Riebeeks vegetable garden back in the 17th century, which has now been landscaped as a reminder of a stopping place for traders & voyagers en route to the Far East.

  


Day 7


This morning take a leisurely drive to the stunning Cape winelands, more specifically to the lovely French village of Franschhoek. Stay 2 nights at Ashbourne House on a bed and breakfast basis.
(Driving time approximately 1 hour).

Day 8


Today explore the Winelands on your very own private tour, visiting Paarl, Franschhoek and the historic town of Stellenbosch. At your disposal will be a very experienced guide who has a wealth of knowledge on the area – he is a pleasure to be with. I have arranged for you to stop for lunch at La Petite Ferme (lunch is not included in the tour price)

  


Day 9


Your drive today will take you to the town of Swellendam to Rothman Manor where you will stay the night in a large suite on a bed & breakfast basis (Driving time approximately 3.5 hours)

Day 10


Today start your drive of the Garden Route along the scenic Route 62 via the Little Karoo and on to the town of Plettenberg Bay. Stay 5 nights in room 8, which is a wonderful sea facing room. Breakfast is included. (Driving time approximately 5 hours)

Day 11


Today take a trip to Knysna for a ferry ride across Knysna’s magnificent estuary to a secluded nature reserve you’ll get the chance to go to the summit for a spectacular panorama view of the Knysna basin and sea. Also take a stroll through the Milkwood Forest home to a variety of wildlife.

Day 12


Today explore the semi red desert of the Little Karoo, then go on to visit the magnificent Cango Caves and learn of their history. Visit one of the many Ostrich farms with a chance of sitting on one! Finally call into the Wildlife Ranch where they have a Cheetah conservation project. It has become one of the top five breeding centres in the world you will have the chance to have a close encounter with one of these fantastic animals.

  


Day 13


Today visit the Knysna Elephant Park. Learn about the background of the elephants within the park. You will also have the opportunity to interact with these magnificent animals with feeding and touching them.



Day 14


This morning visit Monkeyland, a free roaming multi species primate sanctuary where there are many endanger primates that have been rescued and the Birds of Eden which is set in a 2 hectare dome the largest in the world, where you can enjoy a wide variety of beautiful birds.

  


Day 15


Continue along the main N2 to the Tsitsikamma Forest. Stay 2 nights in a superior room at Tarn Country House on a bed and breakfast basis (Driving time is approximately 1.5 hours)

Day 16


The surrounding area offers a variety of activities to keep you entertained from peaceful walks i the unspoilt Tsitsikamma forests, to unusual activities such as the Treetop Canopy Tour, the world’s highest bungee jump off Bloukrans Bridge or a visit to The Fernery at Forest Ferns. The Tsitsikamma National Park is a must see, and guests can enjoy the walk along the boardwalk to the suspension bridge across the Storms River Mouth, or take on the challenge of the 6km Waterfall Walk - along the start of the world famous Otter Trail.

  


Day 17


Set off early from Tsitsikamma and head for the highlight of your trip. Arrive at Pumba Private Game Reserve and stay 3 nights on a full board basis that includes 6 game drives. Pumba is the only reserve on the eastern Cape that has white lion and just this year there were cubs born on the reserve too.

Day 20


This morning enjoy your final game drive, you will then have some time to relax before driving to Port Elizabeth Airport to drop off your car in time for your flight. British Airways (Comair) flight departs at 18:00 arriving into Johannesburg at 19:40 in time to connect with British Airways flight departing at 21:25 arriving into London Heathrow at 06:35 local time, the following day.
